The Challenge
The W.E.M Solution
Allister treated this as a structural engineering challenge. Drawing on “big industry” technical data but applying startup creativity, we developed a Multi-Layered Corrugated Thermal System.
Thermal Air-Gap Engineering: We utilized a double-walled fluted board with a specific structure that creates natural air pockets, acting as a high-performance barrier against external heat.
Moisture-Resistant Barrier: We introduced a specialized, food-safe internal coating. This reflects heat away from the product and prevents the board from softening due to condensation—a common failure in standard cardboard.
The “Flat-Pack” Advantage: Unlike rigid foam, our thermal liners store 100% flat. This transformed the client’s logistics, freeing up massive amounts of warehouse space and reducing the carbon footprint of the inbound delivery.
The Results
We put the prototypes through rigorous “stress tests,” simulating 24-hour transit in peak summer temperatures.
24-Hour Stability: Ingredients remained below 5°C throughout the entire delivery cycle.
Zero Plastic: The customer can now place the entire delivery box—including the liners—into their standard household recycling bin.
Operational Efficiency: By moving to flat-packed liners, the client increased their daily packing volume by 20% due to a more streamlined, faster assembly process.
“W.E.M Packaging proved that we didn’t have to choose between the environment and our product’s safety. Allister’s technical approach saved our transit cycle and our brand’s reputation.”
